Could fos­­sil-free steel make fore­stry more sus­tai­nable? That’s what Ponsse, one of the world’s lar­gest manu­fac­tu­rers of cut-to-length forest mac­hi­nes, is trying to find out. In a new pro­ject, the stan­dard steel in one of its forwarder’s load space has been replaced with fos­­sil-free steel, a pilot deli­very from SSAB.

On 12 Decem­ber, the PONSSE Scor­pion King har­ves­ter was showca­sed at a demo event in Sadala vil­lage, Jõgeva County, orga­ni­sed by Bal­tic Agro Mac­hi­nery AS and Elekt­ri­levi. At the event, Elektrilevi’s part­ners and other inte­res­ted par­ties had the oppor­tu­nity to see how forest mac­hi­nes can effec­ti­vely sup­port the main­te­nance of power line cor­ri­dors, making the work fas­ter, safer and more ecofriendly.

Ponsse South Ame­rica took 110 people to visit the company’s headquar­ters in Fin­land and also the Finn­Metko trade fair, one of the most impor­tant in the world for the fore­stry sec­tor. Among the high­lights poin­ted out by visi­tors were the new tech­no­lo­gies that they were able to see at the fair.

The natio­nal recog­ni­tion that rai­ses the impor­tance and apprecia­tion of the industry was awar­ded in con­junc­tion with the Ali­han­kinta 2024 event in Tam­pere on Octo­ber 2. With the natio­nal Industrial Achie­ve­ment of the Year recog­ni­tion, we want to emp­ha­size the impor­tance and apprecia­tion of industry. The award high­lights the grea­ter effec­ti­ve­ness of indi­vi­dual actions. The recog­ni­tion has been awar­ded since 2021. The award has pre­viously been won by AGCO Power, Val­met Auto­mo­tive and Sand­vik.

Accor­ding to a sur­vey con­duc­ted by the Fin­nish Sha­re­hol­ders’ Associa­tion, the Fin­nish Foun­da­tion for Share Pro­mo­tion and T‑Media, the most repu­table lis­ted com­pany in 2024 is Ponsse. The sur­vey eva­lua­ted the repu­ta­tion of 80 lis­ted com­pa­nies in the eyes of Fin­nish pri­vate inves­tors. Ponsse is the only com­pany in the sur­vey to achieve an excel­lent repu­ta­tion.

Fif­­teen-year-old Hans-Loic Fuh­rer got an early educa­tion with a simu­la­tor and knows how to ope­rate a mil­­lion-dol­­lar tree har­ves­ter.

EDDY­VILLE, Ken­tucky – Ponsse has tur­ned to a southwest Ken­tucky com­pany that specia­lizes in equip­ment repair and hydrau­lics to repre­sent the log­ging equip­ment manu­fac­tu­rer as a parts and ser­vice dea­ler.

In 2024 alone, more than 20 new mac­hi­nes were deli­ve­red. Cur­rently, Ponsse repre­sents about 35% of the forest mac­hine mar­ket in Brazil.

Ponsse is pre­sen­ting new fea­tu­res to sup­port forest mac­hine ope­ra­tors’ daily work and to assist fore­stry ent­repre­neurs to fol­low up on the fleet’s pro­fi­ta­bi­lity and pro­duc­ti­vity: the PONSSE Scale crane sys­tem, which mana­ges load data during all wor­king sta­ges, and the PONSSE High-Preci­­sion Posi­tio­ning solu­tion, which helps the mac­hine ope­ra­tor know the exact loca­tion of the mac­hine and the har­ves­ter head.

Busi­ness Fin­land is orga­nizing a his­to­rically compre­hen­sive visit for the forest and wood pro­ducts industry and the wood con­struc­tion sec­tor from the Uni­ted Sta­tes and Canada to Fin­land. Over 60 North Ame­ricans from nine sta­tes and Nova Sco­tia Canada par­tici­pate the Fin­nish visit.

Ponsse stri­ves for car­bon neut­ra­lity in ope­ra­tio­nal acti­vi­ties and solu­tions. Ponsse Oyj replaces pro­pane, which is used in the pain­ting process of forest mac­hi­nes and is pro­duced as a bypro­duct of fos­sil crude oil refi­ning, with sus­tai­nably pro­duced bio­gas. By int­ro­ducing bio­gas, Ponsse Oyj will be able to reduce the car­bon footprint of pro­duc­tion ope­ra­tions to close to zero.
