Family business expanded close to customers in Argentina

MG Maquinarias Geier opened a new office in Concordia, Argentina in cooperation with Ponsse. The aim is to strengthen the presence in the region’s timber harvesting market and serve customers more efficiently.” We are here to support our customers – to listen to their needs and provide quality solutions and services,” says Director Marcelo Geier.

The family business of Marcelo Geier and Karina Martinez, in cooperation with Ponsse Latin America, opened a new office in Estancia Grande, Concordia, Argentina.

Ponsse Latin American Vice President Martin Toledo, who is responsible for Ponsse’s operations in Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina and Paraguay, also attended the opening in May. He highlighted the potential of the Argentinian market and Ponsse’s long-term commitment to the forest industry in the region.

“Argentina has all the prerequisites for growth. Ponsse’s expansion strategy in Latin America is long-term, and we rely on our local partners. MG Maquinarias Geier is a key partner with whom we have been working for 10 years,” Toledo said.

Martin, Ponsse Uruguay’s Country Manager, also played a key role in getting Marcelo Geier’s company to become Ponsse’s official representative in Argentina.

” Our journey with Ponsse began when we were selected from four large companies as a partner. Since then, we have proceeded with hard work and perseverance – we are like a bulldozer: we proceed slowly, but we push hard,” Marcelo described.

Traditions and modern service of the family business

The hosts of the opening event, Marcelo Geier and his wife Karina Martinez, expressed their warm thanks to their customers and employees. They also thanked Ponsse for their trust and emphasised the importance of the new service centre.  The site enables more efficient logistics, spare part deliveries and technical support for customers in the Uruguay River Basin and North Corrientes – areas where Ponsse harvesters and forwarders are gaining a significant role in timber harvesting.

” We listened to our customers and ranked Concordia in response to their wishes. We are here to provide solutions and quality service,” Marcelo said with emotion.

In her welcome speech, Karina, on the other hand, considers the customers who have enabled the company’s growth, as well as the neighbours, partners, industry representatives and friends of the new area.

” We share this moment with you because we believe in collaboration, future-constructive meetings, and new opportunities for collaboration,” he said.

Karina also concretely thanked the people who supported them – the family, employees and the Ponsse professionals who enabled the company’s success.

“This step was made possible thanks to the unconditional support of the family and the Ponsse people working with us: Don García, Pablo Baisel, María ’Noni’ Paolino and Alfaro. And, of course, the gorgeous’ Team Geier ’that gives its all every day: Mario, Lara, Lore, María Luz, Walter, Kevin, Lautaro, Lorena, Juan Martín and Ignacio. Without them, this trip wouldn’t have been a success,” he thanked.

Marcelo proudly recalled the early days of the family business, which dates to the Misiones rainforest and forestry. Although Marcelo was born in Lima, Peru, he arrived in Argentina decades ago and started a family in Eldorado with Karina. There has been joy in life, good people and colleagues, with whom we still work closely together.

” We’re a small family business, and we love what we do. I am deeply grateful that Karina and I have an intense, energetic and dynamic team that supports us in every challenge.”

In addition, Marcelo said that MG Maquinarias Geier is now able to offer its customers financing options in cooperation with banks.

Increased visibility for Argentinian forestry

The media also noted the opening of a new service center. ArgentinaForestal.com, a local forestry publication, was present at the opening to report on the expansion of the family business.

Considering the importance of the media, Karina said that the Argentine forest sector needs the widest possible visibility – not only to highlight the challenges, but also to share the good news.

” For example, these openings represent a concrete commitment to production, employment and regional development,” he said.

The couple has also engaged in an active dialogue with the representative of the National Forestry and Industrial Development Department, highlighting the need to increase the visibility of the sector and the debate on the importance of forestry.

Overall, the new office of MG Maquinarias Geier has been welcomed as positive news in the Argentine forest sector. It’s a major step and investment.

“Now more than ever, it is important to listen to our customers, act close to them, and invest in local development. With this vision, we hope for continued growth,” summarized Marcelo Geie
