Ponsse Supplier Days for 20 years – Jame-Shaft Oy selected as the Supplier of the Year

Ponsse’s traditional supplier day was held in Rientola in Vieremä on Tuesday, 6 May 2025. During the event, Ponsse’s 55-year journey was also celebrated together. This year, the day’s programme included a special visit to Mäkelä, the home estate of Ponsse’s founder Einari Vidgrén.

For 20 years, Ponsse has held the Annual Supplier Day for both domestic and international suppliers. “During the day, we can exchange topical information with our supplier network about the market situation, the company’s direction and goals, among other things. Joint events bring us closer together and help maintain close contact with our supplier network.  After all, we are doing this together!” says Procurement Director Tuomas Yli-Marttila. “This year, we also have cause for celebration – Ponsse’s 55th anniversary and the event’s 20-year history.”

At the end of the information-packed day, suppliers, who arrived in large numbers to the event, had the opportunity to watch the PONSSE EV1 forwarder and PONSSE Cobra harvester in action in a logging demonstration in Mäkelä. The first PONSSE Dino from 1969 and a copy of Einari’s home located close to the venue also attracted well-deserved interest among event visitors.

To start the evening’s festivities, Markku Kettunen, Ponsse’s long-term partner who will go on a well-earned retirement from Finelcomp Oy, was remembered with a Ponsse bucksaw. It was presented by Tuomas Yli-Marttila, Procurement Director; Minna Jokela, Purchaser; Outi Köykkä, Procurement Team Manager; Seija Kauppinen, Purchaser; and Juha Vidgren, Member of the Board.

Jame-Shaft Oy from Salo was rewarded as the Supplier of the Year. Members of the jury were convinced by the quality of the company’s products and delivery reliability. The company has created customer value in products through its special expertise and collaborative product design. Jame-Shaft has developed its own expertise and activities in the long term which has also supported Ponsse in its development. Cooperation and the can-do attitude received thanks in all areas of operations.

Jame-Shaft has been Ponsse’s supplier partner since 2008 for heat-treated products, mainly regarding various pins and bushings.

Managing Director and entrepreneur Mika Tuunainen and Project Manager Jari Sistonen received the Supplier of the Year award. The award was presented by CEO Juho Nummela, COO Tommi Väänänen and Procurement Director Tuomas Yli-Marttila.

“We work in a very narrow sector in the metal industry, and we want to continuously develop our operations and inspire all our employees to be even better in their work. We truly appreciate this award. Our persistent work has been recognised which encourages us to continue on our selected path,” Mika Tuunainen said after the award ceremony.

Tuunainen speaks highly of cooperation with Ponsse. “Working with Ponsse has always been fair and honest. Ponsse has a down-to-earth approach to work, and we both have the will to solve problems together. As our companies’ values are also a match, it has been easy to work in cooperation.”

“Jame-Shaft has a wonderful team of proven professionals in their field, who can even be characterised as pioneers. Mika at the head of the company is firmly leading the way. The company stands comparison in global markets, and I can agree with the jury with all my heart,” says Yli-Marttila.

Jame-Shaft Oy specialises in the manufacture, machining, grinding and heat treatment of components for mobile machinery and has more than 30 years of experience in the field. The company’s customers include international leading machinery and equipment construction companies in the mining, excavation, forest machine and earth-moving sectors. The company’s operating principle is characterised by the phrase “Everything under the same roof”, and its goal is to be the “Strongest link” in its customers’ supply chain.
