Ponsse took part in the Démo Forest trade fair held in Bertrix, Belgium, on 28–29 July. On display at the fair were Ponsse’s firefighting equipment and the HH360 harvester head rotator, both of which won the main Innovation Award.
Ponsse continues to strengthen its sales and customer service in Belgium and Luxembourg through a partnership with Machines Forestières Skyjack Srl. After several years of successful cooperation, Machines Forestières Skyjack has been officially appointed as a Ponsse sales and service partner in the two countries.
Ponsse has invested in the development of its service centre in Surahammar, Sweden, and has built a new training centre intended for global use. The centre is equipped with Ponsse simulators as well as modern, versatile training facilities suitable also for larger groups.
Pekka Mikkonen, recipient of the Einari Award, believes that in the forest machinery sector, impact is not measured by the size of the company, but by the quality of work, the capacity for cooperation, and the drive to develop the industry. Based in Heinävesi, the family business has built its position through long-term dedication, making an impact on the whole sector that goes far beyond its size.
While the blue-hued forested hills of Kainuu are a magnificent sight, brothers Marko and Vesa Torvinen from Puolanka know that when it comes to moving machinery in the winter, the landscape is seen in a whole different light. Steep slopes, unpredictable weather and heavy snow make the work demanding, but over the years, they have also learned to face these challenges with a sense of humour.
This year marked a major milestone: 55 years since forest machine pioneer Einari Vidgrén founded the Ponsse factory in his hometown of Vieremä, Finland—and 30 years since we planted roots in the USA. To honor this remarkable dual anniversary, we hosted a dynamic blend of history, innovation, and celebration. And for some of us, it was truly unforgettable — especially those who left with a little less hair!
