New Ponsse Bison Focuses on Operator Comfort and Efficient Productivity
Active Cabin Enhances Comfort in Demanding Conditions
The renewed Ponsse Bison takes operator comfort and cost efficiency to a new level. Development has focused especially on the operator’s daily work and on solutions that support productive operations in all conditions.
One of the most significant new features is the optional Active Cabin suspension system. The system improves operator comfort, particularly during long working days. By allowing the cabin to move independently and in a controlled manner from the machine frame, operator strain is reduced and it becomes easier to stay focused on the task at hand.

CVT Transmission Delivers Smoothness and Efficiency
Operator comfort is further enhanced by Bison’s CVT transmission, which enables seamless travel from standstill to maximum speed without gear changes. The result is smoother driving and higher productivity, especially in conditions where higher travel speeds can be utilized.

The CVT transmission provides almost maximum tractive effort right from zero speed, enabling powerful starts, strong acceleration, and efficient operation even in demanding terrain. As vehicle speed is controlled by the transmission ratio rather than engine RPM, the engine can operate within its most efficient range. This results in lower fuel consumption.
The transmission relies more on mechanical and less on hydraulic power transfer, improving overall efficiency and fuel economy compared to traditional hydrostatic solutions. Reliability is further enhanced by gearbox pressure lubrication as well as efficient oil cooling and filtration, ensuring dependable performance even in demanding operating conditions.
The combination of Active Cabin and the CVT transmission makes driving comfortable, controlled, and efficient. The result is a forwarder that supports the operator throughout the workday while helping maintain high productivity in challenging harvesting conditions.
Greater Operating Range, Lower Weight
The new Bison also offers improved operating range. With the optional additional fuel tank, fuel capacity can be increased to up to 280 litres, enabling longer working periods between refueling stops.
In addition, the weight of the new Bison has been reduced by approximately 1,000 kilograms. The lighter structure improves maneuverability and terrain performance while supporting efficient operations in a wide range of harvesting conditions without compromising performance.

A Cost-Effective Solution for Modern Forestry
Lightweight yet powerful, the new Bison is designed to deliver high productivity, excellent operator comfort, and competitive operating costs. The result is a cost-effective solution that meets the demands of modern forestry operations.
